Mr. R.L. Lovell

Mr. R.L. Lovell, age 85, of Clarkesville, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, following an extended illness.

Mr. Lovell was born on November 7, 1924, in Habersham County, Georgia, to the late Virgil L., Sr. and Lillie Kastner Lovell. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Earl Lovell. Mr. Lovell was a member of Hills Crossing Baptist Church and a lifelong cattleman and farmer. He was a United States Navy Veteran.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mervin Church Lovell, Clarkesville, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Lynda Sue and Jim Boggs, Rome, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Larry Joe and Kathy Moore Lovell, Clarkesville, GA; sisters, Lillie Marie Barron, Habersham County, GA, Irene Blalock, Tiger, GA, Judy Rea, Clarkesville, GA, and Ann Vandiver, Clarkesville, GA; brothers, V.L. Lovell, W.L. "Dub" Lovell, Carlos Lovell, Fred Lovell, all of Clarkesville, GA, and V.C. Lovell, DVM, Gainesville, GA; sister-in-law, Phyllis Head, Clarkesville, GA; brother-in-law, Barry and Anthony Church, Clarkesville, GA; grandchildren, Martha Faye and Lt. Col. Jim Borders, USAF, Mary Kathryn Boggs, D.O., George and Elisha Boggs, Drew and Dixie Lovell, Laura and Jeff Ferguson, and Erin and Rev. Ben Hames; and great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Andrew, John Borders; Amelia and George Wilder Boggs, Abi and Andrew Lovell, Nathan Miller; and John, Jonah, and Luke Ferguson.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 15, 2010, from the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with the Rev. Billy Burrell and the Rev. Walter Singletary officiating. Interment will follow in the Victory Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Shane Jenkins officiating at the graveside.

The family will receive friends at the North Chapel in Demorest from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2010.
