Charles H. Drew

Obituary Date: Monday, October 4, 2010
Charles H. Drew, age 84, of Flowery Branch went to be with the Lord on October 2, 2010.

Survived by his wife Betty, his daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Bennet Aiken, and son Richard C Drew; his grandchildren, Richard C. Drew II, April Aiken Acker and Matt Acker, Amber Aiken Pelot and Matt Pelot, Dawson Drew and Dylan Drew; and two great grandchildren, Layne and Cooper Drew; and his many loved nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Lucille Drew; two sisters, Shirley Jones and Mildred Graben. Born in Chattanooga, TN, he grew up in Bremen, GA then moved to Atlanta. He retired from Harris-Lanier after forty years as a Divisional Vice President, where he began as a Repair Technician. He was a Christian Man, Ordained Deacon, past member of Ben Hill Baptist Church and Wieuca Road Baptist, and present member of Gainesville First Baptist. Very active in Civitian, Little League Baseball, Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He served in the Army Air Force for two years training in Miami, special technician on the Black Box in Minnesota, then active duty in Naples, Italy. He returned to Atlanta to attend Georgia Tech.

Visitation will be at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Gainesville, GA on Monday, October 4, from 5 pm to 8 pm. Services will be on Tuesday, October 5, at 2 pm in the Memorial Park Chapel with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. Bill Coates and Reverend Bruce Fields will officiate the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Ministry of Caring, 751 Green Street, Gainesville, GA 30501.
