Ralph J. Dodd

Ralph J. Dodd age 85 of Young Road, Gainesville died Thursday September 30, 2010 at a private nursing home in Buford following extended illness. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm Sunday October 3, 2010 at the Mount Vernon Baptist church with the Rev. Dean Bryant and the Rev. Bill Lawson officiating, and interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Dodd will lie in state at the church from 1:30 pm till 2 pm Sunday. The family will receive friends Saturday October 2, 2010 at the funeral home from 4 pm to 8 pm.
Mr. Dodd was born in Forsyth County, was a longtime resident of Gainesville and was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church. He had worked at the N. E. Ga. Medical Center and with the county school system at both Lanier Elementary and North Hall H.S. Mr. Dodd enjoyed farming and working with his tractor, he also enjoyed sitting on his front porch and would wave at everyone that passed by, and people that passed by daily looked forward to that kind gesture.
