George Christy

Mr. George Howard Christy, age 74 of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2010 at his residence following an extended illness.

The family will host a special memorial service at 5:30 pm October 9, 2010 at the home of his daughter, Barbara Jackson, in Clermont, GA, 770-983-2166.

Mr. Christy was born in Dahlonega, Georgia and was the son of the late Howard Christy and Ona (Marlow) Christy. He honorably served in the United States Air Force.

Mr. Christy is survived by his loving wife of many years, Jean Christy of Gainesville; four daughters, Sherrie Gordon of Gainesville, Barbara Jackson of Clermont, Tammy Atkins of Lula and Linda Christy; brothers, Bobby Christy of Lula, Junior Christy of Dahlonega and sister, Sue Shelton of Clarkesville. He was the loving grandfather of Wayne Stewart, Krystal Kelly, Whitney Waters, Logan Jackson, Brian Bagwell and Katlyn Atkins along with 3 wonderful great-grand children and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Church Street Apartments for the Disabled and Elderly, 710 Jesse Jewell Parkway SE Gainesville, GA 30501
