Richard L. Cooksey

Richard L. Cooksey, 69, of Dawsonville died Friday September 17, 2010 at his residence following a period of declining health.

Born April 4, 1941 in Ashland, KY to the late James Ernest and Foew Adell Cooksey, he had lived in Dawsonville for 5 years having moved from Camarillo, California. Mr. Cooksey was a retired Mechanical Engineer with D.A.C. with 12 years of service and was employed for many years with the 3M Company. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran was an avid hard core golfer.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Cathryn "Cathy" Cooksey, Dawsonville; sons and daughters in law, Terry and Lynda Cooksey, Dawsonville, Danny and Teresa Cooksey, Dawsonville; stepmother, Grace Adkins, Ashland, KY; brother and sister in law, Jim and Patty Cooksey, Kentucky; granddaughter, Trista Tenney; great grandsons, Taye Wilburn, Kyan Wilburn; nephew, Troy Cooksey; niece, Cynthia Cooksey Schrand.

Memorial services will be held Saturday October 9, 2010 at 2 o'clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will receive friends from 1 o'clock until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
