Walter Fred Threlkeld Sr.

Walter Fred Threlkeld Sr., age 87 of Sautee-Nacoochee, passed away Monday September 20, 2010 at his daughter's residence.

Mr. Threlkeld was born February 5, 1923 in Carlton, GA to the late Hoyt Andrew and Amy Brooks Threlkeld. Mr. Threlkeld was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a member of Gideons Cleveland Chapter, a long time former member of Cleveland First Baptist Church and a member of Nacoochee United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kitty Threlkeld, brothers, Harry Threlkeld and Oren Threlkeld.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Jeff Brown, Cleveland; sons and daughters-in-law, Fred Jr. and Jane Threlkeld, Sautee-Nacoochee; Bill and Becky Threlkeld, Sautee-Nacoochee; Lee Threlkeld and Leslie Crawford, Vista, California; Jeff and Susan Threlkeld, Clarkesville; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, October 9, 2010 from the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Chris Shurtz and Rev. Lyndon Eubanks will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service.
