Kay Trammell Wisherd

Obituary Date: Thursday, September 16, 2010

Kay Trammell Wisherd of Cleveland went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 16, 2010, surrounded by her family and closest friends.

Mrs. Wisherd is survived by her Husband, Martin O. Wisherd of Cleveland. She is also survived by her parents, Hubert Carlton Trammell and Patricia Jones Trammell, of Clermont, Georgia. She was their only child. She is also survived by her daughter and grandson, Amanda (Mandy) Evans and Jay Swain of Gainesville, Georgia; son and grandchildren, James (Jim) Martin Wisherd, II, Skylar Grace Wisherd and Lillian Corinne Wisherd, of Kennesaw Georgia; and her daughter, Martina Marie Wisherd, of Lexington, Kentucky. Her very special friend, Harriette Taylor of Gainesville, Georgia, and her companion of the last three years, Nala, also survive her.

Kay was born in Marietta, Georgia in 1944. Her father, Hubert, was in the Army and the Air Force, and her fondest memories of moving around were when she lived in Puerto Rico, which she was able to go back and visit in February 2010. For most of her life, Kay was employed as a Paralegal, spending the majority of her career at Stewart, Melvin & Frost, LLP, in Gainesville, Georgia.

Kay desired that her body be donated to the Medical College of Georgia in honor of her grandson, Jay, and in honor of Katie Allen, PA, and Brennan Wood, MD., both of Gainesville.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 19, 2010, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m at Little & Davenport Funeral Home. The family will hold a private memorial service on Monday, September 20, 2010.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations, both monetarily and materially be made to the Gateway House, in Memory of Kay Wisherd. Monetary donations can be mailed to Gateway House, P.O. Box 2962, Gainesville, Georgia 30503. Any clothing or other material donations should be taken to the Gateway House Thrift Stores. All donations are tax deductible, but most of all will assist women and their children who have been affected by domestic violence, be able to obtain jobs, housing, and independence once again.
