Mary Raley Talley

Mary Alice Raley Talley, born Nov. 24, 1920, in Poston, SC, passed on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, in Cumming, GA. She is the daughter of Clyde Livingston Raley and Lola Jane (Janie) Richardson Raley, both of SC.
A long-time resident of Mobile, AL, Mary Alice was most happy in her kitchen or at the bridge table. She loved to read fiction and work crossword puzzles. A dedicated walker, she considered the SC coast the only true beach. Before marrying Martin Edward Talley Sr. on April 24, 1956, she was an executive secretary with International Paper Co. in Georgetown, SC.
She is survived by her children Martin Edward Talley, Jr., of Wilson, NC; Mary Paule Hennies Dildy and husband Wilson of Pine Bluff, AR; Lillian Ann Talley Cox and husband Charles of Cumming, GA; Janice Talley Pope and husband Banister of Boone, NC; John Fletcher Talley and wife Peppi of Birmingham, AL., as well as 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, her sister, Harriet Raley Bushardt of Georgetown, SC, predeceased her.
Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Byars Funeral Home, 155 Professional Park Drive, Cumming, GA. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to services, at Byars. Afterward, the family will receive friends at the home of Lillian and Charles Cox.
