Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mr. John William Streeter, age 78 of Sautee. Mr. Streeter passed away Thursday, September 16, 2010 at a private nursing home following a period of declining health.
Mr. Streeter was born in Glens Falls, New York on April 29, 1932 to John E. Streeter and Anna Mae Hoag. He served with honor in the United States Navy, United States Air Force, the National Guard, retiring from the United States Army after serving in both the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He moved to White County in 1996 from Spring Hill, Florida. Mr. Streeter was a member of Yonah Lodge F&AM where he served for some twelve years as Chaplain, in addition he was a past president of the Alpine Shrine Club, the York Rite, the Scottish Rite and the Order of the Eastern Star where he served as a past Worthy Patron, in addition to his many faternal member ships, he was a member of the American Legion as well as the VFW. Mr. Streeter was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Streeter, Sautee; son, John R. Streeter,Clarkesville, TN.; brothers and sisters in law, David and Lydia Streeter, Tuscon, AR.; Michael and Patricia Streeter, California; sister, Patricia Hunt, Queensbury,New York; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild
It was Mr. Streeter's wishes to be cremated and no public services are planned.
