Robert Joe Stanifer

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Robert Joe Stanifer, age 73, of Jefferson, who passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2010. Mr. Stanifer was born on January 30, 1937 in Kingsport, TN, a son to the late, Mr. Buford Ralph Stanifer and the late Ms. Pearl Price Stanifer. Mr. Stanifer was a former law enforcement officer with Norcross, Duluth, and the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office. Mr. Stanifer was a retired Teamsters Business agent, a member of the Kingsley Methodist Church, Norcross Masonic Lodge and the American Legion and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the 101st Airborne during the Korean War.

Survivors include wife, of fifty years, Clyde Christian Stanifer of Jefferson, Son and daughter in law, Michael and Annette Stanifer of Jefferson, Daughter and son in law, Melissa and Bill Wallace of Hoschton. Three sisters, Dolores Fisher of Jefferson, Myrta and Penny, Brother, Scott Stanifer of Blairsville, three grandchildren, Drake Stanifer, Marin Wallace and Jake Wallace. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 15, 2010 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Rudy Camp and Earl Tolliver officiating, entombment will follow in Peachtree Memorial Park, Norcross, Georgia. Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Tolbert, Mark Russell, Steven Christian, Chris Russell, Robbie Christian, Darrell Christian. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Tuesday evening 6-9 P.M. Flowers are optional, memorials may be made to Survivors of Police Officers, American Lung Association or the Masonic Children's Home of Georgia.
