Jonae James (Jim) Jenkins

Mr. Jonae James (Jim) Jenkins , 79 of Conyers passed away
September 1l ,2010 at his residence. Mr. Jenkins lived in
Conyers for 11 years after moving from Fort Washington, MD.
He was a member of Heritage Hills Baptist Church in Conyers.
Mr. Jenkins was a public school teacher in Washingon, DC at
Alice Deal Junior High School for over 30 years and a deacon at
Fort Foote Baptist Church in Fort Washington. He proudly
served his country in the United States Air Force during the
Korean Conflict and was a member of the 1st Presidential Honor
Guard during the presidency of Harry S. Truman. His passions
were his family, gospel music and playing softball. He was born
in Dahlonega, Ga. to the late William and Della Mae Hooper
Jenkins. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Carol J. Jenkins,
sons and daughters in law Warren Jonae & Nancy Jenkins of
Conyers, Matthew D. Jenkins of Fairfax, VA., James Mickey &
Vernadette Jenkins also of Conyers, sisters Ruby Mills and
Alice Chapman, nephew Rev.William Charles Jenkins, cousin
Marie McDonald and 11 grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr.
Jenkins will take place on Tuesday Septembet 14,2010 at 2:00
pm in the chapel of Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega with
Rev. Charles Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in the
Jenkins family plot at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Dahlonega. In lieu of flowers
donations may be made to Georgia Baptist Children's Home in
Palmetto, Georgia. Friends may sign the online guest register at

Covington, Ga, is in charge of arrangements.Banister Funeral Home of
