John Howard Lindsey, age 89, of St. Petersburg, Florida, died peacefully on Friday, September 10, 2010 in Braselton, GA. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Rev. Larry Riley, Rev. Mark Welch, and Rev. Don Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at 2:30 PM at the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA. The Family will receive friends on Monday, September 13, 2010 from 6 to 9 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Lindsey was preceded in death by his grandson Matthew Steadman. He is survived by his wife Mildred Lindsey, St. Petersburg, FL; Children, Janice Ann Dikin Piggott, Symsonia, KY, John Howard Lindsey, Jr., Safety Harbor, FL, David Lindsey, St. Petersburg, FL, Elizabeth Hausman, Braselton, GA, Patricia Steadman Chorba, St. Petersburg, FL, Stephen Scott Lindsey, Dacula, GA, Anna Sue Lindsey, St. Petersburg, FL, Sarah Lee Camper, Braselton, GA; 17 Grandchildren; 15 Great Grandchildren; Sister, Joette Lane, St. Petersburg, FL. Mr. Lindsey was born in Calvert City, Kentucky. He was a retired minister and a WWII Veteran of the US Army where he received the Silver Star Medal, WWII Victory Medal, European African Middle Eastern Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars and Good Conduct Medal.
