Arthur Hugh Walker

Obituary Date: Saturday, September 4, 2010
Mr. Arthur Hugh Walker, age 81, of Alpharetta passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord on September 4, 2010. Born February 13, 1929, in Fayetteville, GA, to the late Arthur Walker and Emma Adams Walker. After attending North Georgia College, he served four years in the United States Air Force, and graduated from Georgia Tech in 1957 as an electrical engineer. He lived for 30 years in Clearwater, Florida, where he worked as a design engineer for Honeywell on Projects for NASA and the U. S. Department of Defense.



He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alpharetta, Georgia, and the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Roswell Branch.



He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gayle Southern Walker of Alpharetta, daughters and sons-in-law Dr. David and Jana Walker McCann of Portland, ME, and Gregg H. Kennedy, M.D. and Sonya Walker Kennedy of Milton, Georgia, as well as grandchildren Kirsten McCann Mancini of San Diego, CA, Katie Kennedy of Manhattan, NY, Noelle McCann of Portland, ME, Tori Kennedy of Manhattan, NY, and Nathan McCann of Portland, ME.



Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at 11:00 am in the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel in Cumming, immediately followed by burial at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, Ellijay. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and Wednesday from 10:00 am until hour of service.



In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Alpharetta, 44 Academy Street, Alpharetta, GA 30009.
