Avis Esco Hill,

Avis Esco Hill, 87, of Gainesville, passed away Tuesday morning, August 10, 2010 following a period of declining health. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday August 12, 2010 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Jon Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, August 12, 2010 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Born in Dunwoody, GA, she was the daughter of the late Clinton T. and Mary Garrett Hunt. She was raised in Forsyth County and moved to Gainesville in 1940. She was owner of Avis' Beauty Shop in Gainesville. She was a member of Montgomery Memorial Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, John S. Hill and James Harold Ellis and grandson, John Chadwick Hill.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John W. and Carol Jean Hill of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Dolores and Dwight Key of Gainesville; grandchildren, Jason and Tosha Hill, Jennifer Vann, Christopher Ballenger, Melissa and Jason Powell; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
