James Lee "Jim" Gilstrap

Rev. James Lee "Jim" Gilstrap, 87 of Gainesville died Monday August 9, 2010 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born in Lumpkin County, Rev. Gilstrap had lived in Hall County for most of his life. He was the son of the late James Maryland and Mary Rose Garner Gilstrap. Rev. Gilstrap had served as a minister for over 66 years serving a number of churches in the Northeast Georgia area, he also had served as pastor of Rock Hill Congregational Holiness Church for 18 years and also at Faith Interdenominational Church for 16 years, he also had served in the United States Army during World War II. Rev. Gilstrap attended New Hope Church.
Rev. Gilstrap is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Elizabeth Autry Gilstrap, a daughter, Aslee Carder.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law; Ann and Rickey Thomas, Gainesville; David and Deborah Gilstrap, Clermont; brother and sister-in-law; the Rev. L.G. and Rev. Gloria Gilstrap, Gainesville; sisters, Era Bell Villyard, Gainesville; Jean Henry, Atlanta; Mary Fuller, Gainesville, 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday August 11, 2010 in the Little & Davenport Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. L.G. Gilstrap, Rev. David Gilstrap will officiate. Interment will follow in the Rock Hill Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery with Rev. Rickey Lee Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday August 10, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and again from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
