Mary Lee Elgin

Mary Lee Elgin, 67, of the Persimmon Community, went home to be with the Lord at her residence on Wednesday, August 4, 2010.
She was born in Rabun County and was the daughter of the late Claude M.B. and Edith M. Burrell Darnell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Anita Elgin, three sisters, Beulah Tanner, Frances Griffen, and Sue Wright.
Mrs. Elgin is survived by her husband, David A. Elgin; a daughter Robin E. Johnson and her husband C. Donald Johnson, of Clayton; four sisters Hazel Hurst of Franklin, NC., Charlotte Rodriguez of Athens GA, Margaret Giles of Mt Airy GA, and Claudia Scott of Clayton, GA; one granddaughter Destiny Anita Johnson.
She was a cook at the Rabun County Head Start for 28 years, and was a very active member of Black Rock Baptist Church.
The Family will receive friends at Beck Funeral Home on Saturday, August 7, 2010 from 6 until 8 PM. Funeral Services will be held at The Head of Tennessee Baptist Church on Sunday, August 8, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Alan Ovitt and Rev. Bill Gravley officiating. Burial will follow in the church Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Mary Lee Elgin Fund, in care of Mountain Heritage Bank, P.O. Box 1510 Clayton, Georgia 30525, to assist with the medical expenses.
