John Edward (Ed) Head

Mr. John Edward (Ed) Head age 89 of Cleveland passed away Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Oaks at Scenic View in Baldwin following an extended illness.

Mr. Head was born in Cleveland Georgia the son of the late Charles Edward Head and Mary Johnson Head. He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Edwards Head, brother, Jim Head and sister, Polly Stamey. Mr. Head was a member of Cleveland United Methodist Church, Veteran of World War 11 serving in the Army Air Corp, and the American Legion. He was a member of Yonah Masonic Lodge #382 F& AM, White County Historical Society where he served as President for 12 years and the Cleveland Kiwanis Club. Mr. Head served as a member of the Cleveland City Council for 53 years.

Survivors include daughter and son in law, Melanie and Mac Hembree, Villa Rica; son, Charles E. Head 11, Cleveland; grandchildren, Johannah Womack. Villa Rica, Kristin Head, Atlanta, Ian Edward Head, Charlie Joseph Head, both of Cleveland; great grandchildren, Abigail Womack, Alex Womack, both of Villa Rica.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday August 3, 2010 at Cleveland United Methodist Church. The Rev. Richard Huycke and the Rev. Emory Brackman will officiate. Interment will be in the Cleveland Cemetery. Mr. Head will lie in state at the Church 10:30 to 11 A.M.

The family will receive friends 5-7 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
