Mr. Hugh K. Turk, 85 of Gainesville died Thursday July 29, 2010 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born in White County, Mr. Turk had lived in Hall County for most of his life. He was the son of the late Joe and Lelah Mae Chandler Turk. He served in the United States Navy Pacific Fleet during World War II. Mr. Turk served as a Hall County Commissioner from 1957 until 1960. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Bonnie Brown Turk, Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law; Gerald and Debbie Turk, Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law; Glenda and Charles Baker, Gainesville; grandchildren; Andrea and Scott Riley, Buford; Andy and Rebecca Turk, Flowery Branch; great grandchildren; Drew and Anna Kate Riley, both of Buford; K's special little boys, Brystin and Kodi Stevens, both of Gainesville; brothers; Frank Turk and Marvin Turk, both of Oakwood; sister, Helen McDonald, Gainesville, a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Mr. Turk is preceded in death by a brother, William "Bill" Turk.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday July 31, 2010 at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. The Rev. Stacy Phillips and the Rev. Clack Stubbs will officiate. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Phil Carpenter officiating. The family will receive friends at the Little & Davenport Funeral Home Friday July 30, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 3650 Browns Bridge Road, Gainesville, Georgia 30504.
