Roger Lee Fitzsimonds

Obituary Date: Monday, July 26, 2010
Mr. Roger Lee Fitzsimonds, age 57 of Dawsonville, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2010. Mr. Fitzsimonds was born in Long Beach, CA on September 28, 1952. Mr. Fitzsimonds was an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America, an accomplishment that was a source of great pride for him. He was a service member of the US Navy and served in the Vietnam Conflict. He won several medals for his service while in the Navy. He left the Navy in 1980 when he was honorably discharged, to begin his long career in the computer industry. He remained in the field for the remainder of his life and would have had it no other way. He was an enthusiastic wood worker who enjoyed nothing more than to have a blank piece of wood to turn into something beautiful and useful.

Mr. Fitzsimonds was the oldest son of Harold and Marjorie Fitzsimonds (deceased) of Riverton, WY. He is survived by his twin brother and sister, Gerald Wesley Fitzsimonds and Jo Anne Solomon. He is also survived by his wife of 18 years, Mrs. Alison Mash Fitzsimonds and his children, Lyndee Grace Fitzsimonds, Kelley John Fitzsimonds and Amanda Fitzsimonds Lawson. He had five grandchildren, Halle Marie Lawson, James Robert Lawson, III, Jacob Wesley Lawson, Lorelei Elise Lawson of Kennesaw, GA and Kyle Sherman Fitzsimonds of St. Augustine, FL. He is also survived by his first wife, Doris Fitzsimonds Cooley, mother and father-in-law, Jim and Norma Mash, brothers-in-law, Bryan Mash and Alan Mash.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 30, 2010 at 10:00 am in the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tommy Chapman and Pastor Keith Lee officiating. Interment will follow at 12:30 pm at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Thursday, July 29th from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm.

Please join us to memorialize Roger Fitzsimonds. His wit, wisdom and unique outlook on life will be missed by all that knew him. His laugh, love and joy of life will live on in his children and grandchildren. He will never be forgotten, only missed.
