Jean C. Broome

Jean C. Broome, age 76 of Clarkesville, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2010, at her residence following an extended illness.
Born in White County on April 12, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Leman and Nancy Louise Sosebee Cantrell. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed painting and attending daily activities at Habersham Retreat. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Herschel Broome; brothers, David G. Cantrell and Bruce Cantrell.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Rachel & Terry Vann of Woodstock; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry Herschel & Faye Broome of Mt. Airy and Dale Wayne & Cindy Broome of Clarkesville; sisters, Shelby Jones of Augusta, Barbara Umbehant of Demorest and Brenda Cantrell of Cornelia; grandchildren, Donna J. Nations of Toccoa, Tabitha Bowen of Alto, Sarah Vann of Woodstock and Ashley Broome of Clarkesville; also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 11:00 am Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Curtis Woods officiating. Interment will follow in Welcome Home Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-5 & 7-9 pm on Monday.
