Reverend Thomas James Helton

Reverend Thomas James Helton, age 62, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, July 2 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Memorial Park North-Riverside Chapel with interment to follow in the Rockhill Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery. Reverend Jeff Gailey and Rodney Helton will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 30, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm and Thursday, July 1, 2010 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm and 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Helton was born on June 3, 1948 to the late Joseph A. Helton, Sr. and Thelma Hill Helton in Blairsville. Tommy attended Clermont Pentecostal Lighthouse Church. He served as a minister, deacon, and was a Sunday School Teacher. Mr. Helton is preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph A. Helton, Jr., Willie Paul Helton, sisters, Barbara Ann Helton and Betty Helton Taylor.

Mr. Helton is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Jannie Helton of Gainesville, son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Sandra Helton of Murrayville, daughter, Pam Helton of Braselton, granddaughters, Briannna and Marissa Helton, grandson, Caleb Helton, brothers and sister-in-laws, Martin and Millie Helton of Roseburg, Oregon, Marcus and Terra Helton of Oakwood.
