Dennis Chambers

Mr. Dennis Chambers, age 74, of Dahlonega, GA died May 26, 2010.

Mr. Chambers was born in Hall County, GA May 11, 1936. He had lived in Lumpkin County since 1952. Dennis was a saw miller, hog farmer, cleaned out wells, and was retired from the Georgia Dept. of Transportation and was of the Baptist faith.

He was the son of the late Myrt Chambers and Lizzie Boggus Chambers and was also preceded in death by brother, Clarence Chambers; sisters, Jeanell Stringer, Barbara Abercrombie, and Myrtice Priest; granddaughter, Jennifer Wood; and grandson, Christopher Wood.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth Chambers, Dahlonega, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Donna Chambers, Dahlonega, GA, Alan and Jane Chambers, Dahlonega, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Rita Fay and Herman Woody, Dahlonega, GA, Irene and James Bennett, Dahlonega, GA, Tessa and Rusty Sanders, Gainesville, GA; brothers, Monroe Chambers, Flowery Branch, GA, Johnny Chambers, Dahlonega, GA, Sam Chambers, Dahlonega, GA; sisters, Martha Barton, Dahlonega, GA, and Mary Youngblood, Dahlonega, GA; grandchildren, Nena Turpin, Andy Wood, Joel Turpin, Candace Chambers, David Chambers, Christian Chambers, and Charles Sanders; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Dylan Woody. A large number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Chambers are scheduled for 11 AM Saturday May 29, 2010 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega.

Rev. Tim Hicks and Rev. Jeff Brookshire will officiate.

Interment will follow in Dahlonega Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 PM until 9 PM and all day on Friday.
