Stanley York

Mr. Stanley Richard York, age 63 of Demorest, GA lost his battle with cancer on Monday, May 24, 2010.

A son of the late Corbet York and Louise York Hames, he was born September 22, 1946 in Clarkesville, Georgia. Upon graduating from Jones County High School in Gray, Georgia, he moved back to Clarkesville. Stanley was a truck driver and diesel mechanic. He had a passion for tractors, and he and his wife attended many tractor shows. He also had a love for music. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. A son, Michael Allen, Gainesville, Georgia, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his loving wife, Pam York of the residence, mother Louise York Hames, Demorest, Georgia, three sisters, Cheryl Thomas, Gray, Georgia, Rita Church, Clarkesville, Georgia, Pam Hendrix, Demorest, Georgia, one brother, Gary York, Demorest, Georgia, sons, Richard York, Blue Ridge, Georgia, Nick Allen, Gainesville, Georgia, daughters, Renee Smith, Cleveland, Georgia, Janice Allen, Mt. Airy, Georgia, nine grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Stanley lived his life as a loving, honest and dedicated husband and father. His legacy is the remarkable values and morals he lived by which will be carried on by his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered for his intelligence, integrity, his sense of humor and dedication to his family.

The family will receive friends at Hillside Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, from 2-4 PM and from 6-9 PM.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Mr. York will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Hillside Memorial Chapel, 5495 Highway 197 South, Clarkesville, Georgia. Interment will follow at Amyâ
