Arnold William Stancil

Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mr. Arnold William Stancil, age 84 of Clarkesville. Mr. Stancil passed away Friday, May 21, 2010 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 23, 2010 from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. David Crowe officiating. Interment will follow in Eternal Hills Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Stancil was born Lumpkin County on January 6, 1926 to Emory Stancil and Mattie Bell Edmundson Stancil. He served with honor in the United States Navy, He retired the Gwinnett County Highway Department after a long and distinguished career. Mr. Stancil was of the Methodist faith and was attending the Rock of Cleveland. He is preceded in death by his wife, Bennie Ruth Jarrard Stancil and great granddaughter, Natalie McClure

Survivors include his wife, Jean Stancil , Clarkesville; sons and daughters in law, Kirk and Pam Stancil, Dacula; Brad and Joanne Stancil, Loganville; step son and daughter in law, Thomas Randall and Ann Turner, Challotte, North Carolina; step sons, Rufe ed Grizzle, and Brian Grizzle, both of Clayton, step daughter Sheree Grizzle and Wayne Presnell of Stockbridge; brother, Hayden Stancil, Dahlonega; sisters, Evelyn Reed, Lawrenceville and Ruth Rudder of Gastonia , North Carolina, grandchildren, Anthony Stancil, Derek Stancil, Kate McClure, Hans Stancil and Emily Stancil; great grandchildren, Maci Stancil, Bo and Caleb McClure

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 5 to 8 PM

Flowers will be acknowledged or memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society
