Dean Davis

Mr. Dean Davis, age 81, of Dahlonega, GA died May 13, 2010 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA.

Dean was born in Lumpkin County April 23, 1929. He lived in Michigan for many years. After retiring from General Motors after 33 years of service, he moved back to Lumpkin County in 1987. Dean always had an interest in small engine repair and owned and operated Davis Small Engines in Dahlonega for over 20 years. Dean served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Mr. Davis was the son of the late Harve and Callie Seabolt Davis and was also preceded in death by a son, Ricky Dean Davis; brothers, Conley Davis and Roy Cleat Davis; sisters, Dora Walker and Alma Clanton.

Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Karen Davis, Dahlonega, GA; sons and daughter-in-law, Brad Davis, Dahlonega, GA, Kenny and Jean Davis, Dahlonega, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and James Holkamp, Texas, Virginia and David Coffel, Cleveland, GA, Nadeane and Thomas Adams, Dahlonega, GA, Callie and Gary Davis, Dahlonega, GA; brother, A.C. Davis, Dawsonville, GA; grandchildren, David Coffel, Dillon Coffel, Alexis Coffel, Justin Adams, Tommy Adams, Kearstin Adams, Tyler Davis, Renee Patterson, Katie Holkamp, and James Holkamp; great-grandchild, Aiden Nichols. Numerous other relatives also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 PM Monday May 17, 2010 at the Macedonia Baptist Church in Lumpkin County. Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the Veterans Alliance Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 12 Noon until 9 PM and all day on Sunday.
