Nell Tolbert Segars

Mrs. Nell Tolbert Segars, 76 of Gainesville died Saturday May 8, 2010.

A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Segars had lived in Hall County since 1963. She was the daughter of the late Jesse and Ruby Spratlin Tolbert. Mrs. Segars was a graduate of Jefferson High School. She worked as a teacher and director of the Children's Development Center at the First Presbyterian Church for a number of years, before going to work for Dr.'s Askew, Browning and Jenkins where she was the office manager for 20 years. Mrs. Segars was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, a wonderful cook and a self-taught pianist and seamstress. She loved spending time with her family of whom she loved dearly, she will be missed by all that new her.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Curtis Segars, Gainesville; Son and Daughter-in-law; Alan and Lynn Segars, Marietta; Daughters and Sons-in-law; Laurie and Ben Mason, Gainesville; Julie and Barry Barr, Valdosta; Grandchildren; Will Segars and Viktor Segars, both of Marietta; Ashley Whitmire and Stephen Mason, Both of Gainesville; Brad Barr, Colorado Springs, Colorado and Alston Barr, Valdosta; Great Grandchild; Taylor Crowe, Gainesville; Sister and Brother-in-law; Becky and Jack Slover, Cumming; Brother and Sister-in-law; Melvin and Glenda Tolbert, Pendergrass; Sister-in-law; Nora Tolbert, Jefferson. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Segars is preceded in death by a brother, Alfred "Tabo" Tolbert.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday May 11, 2010 at the Alta Vista Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Evans will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Little & Davenport Funeral Home Monday May 10, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
