Cline John Estees Thomas

Cline John Estees Thomas, age 76, of Lula, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Thomas was born July 24, 1933 to the late Solomon M. and Florence Loggins Thomas. He graduated from Lula High School and attended Mercer College. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the 28th Infantry, 101st Airborne. Mr. Thomas was in the law enforcement field for several years and was a graduate of the Northeast GA Police Academy. He was a member of the Baptist faith for 62 years and attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Homer. After his retirement he enjoyed working at Timeless Rods in Lula. Mr. Thomas was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, going to church, and traveling. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his brothers; Fay Thomas, Wiley Thomas, and Roy Thomas; wives; Betty Jo Greenway Thomas and Susan Holbrook Thomas; brother-in-law, William Sharpton and sister-in-law, Louella Thomas.
Surviving are his daughters and son-in-laws; Donna and Benny Patrick, Carnesville, Judy and Joe Mooney, Lula; sons, Timm Thomas, Buford, and John Thomas, Oakwood; grandchildren, Scott and Teri Patrick, Gillsville, Staci Patrick, Carnesville, Kristin Mooney, Athens, Christopher and Danielle Mooney, Lula,; great grandchildren, Addison Patrick and JC Mooney; sister, Elease Sharpton, Cleveland; brother, Merlin Thomas, Lula, brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Jewell and Betty Thomas, Lula; sister-in-laws, Winnie Thomas, Lula, and Ruby Thomas, Buford. He is also survived by two step children, eight step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 7, 2010 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home, with Reverend James Duncan, Reverend Wayne Strickland, Reverend Drewery Loggins, and Reverend Matthew Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Lula, GA. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 5, 2010 and Thursday, May 6, 2010 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the funeral home.
