Loyd Loyce Dalton

Loyd Loyce Dalton, retired TSGT United States Air Force, of Dahlonega, GA, passed away April 16, 2010.

Mr. Dalton was born in Buford, GA and had lived in Lumpkin County for the past 7 years.

During a distinguished career in the U.S. Air Force, TSGT Dalton received many awards and citations including AF Commendation Medal, Distinguished-Presidential Unit Citation with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, AF Good Conduct Medal with 6 Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, AF Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, AF Longevity Service Award Ribbon with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, NCO PME Graduate Ribbon, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was very proud of his military service.


He was the son of the late Henry Franklin Dalton and Maude Brogdon Dalton and was also preceded in death by brothers, Roy Dalton and Arthur Dalton.

Sgt. Dalton is survived by his wife, Betty Dalton, Children, Candy C. Nickerson, Loyd S. Dalton, Shari L. Watson, Carla J. Hicks, Charlene Hunt, David W. Howell, and Jackie W. Plute; sisters, Era Williams and Hazel Bryant. Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.
