Mrs. Bert Carpenter, 81, of Gainesville died Sunday April 11, 2010.
Born in Atlanta, Mrs. Carpenter had lived in Hall County since 1965. She was a sales lady with Mintz Jewelry in Gainesville for a number of years and was a member of the Montgomery Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Rev. Grady Carpenter, Gainesville; mother, Frances Abercrombie, Duluth; son and daughter-in-law; Mark and Lisa Carpenter, Gainesville; daughters and sons-in-law; Jane and Ken White, Oakwood; Jean and Ben Pethel, Gainesville; brother, Eddie Abercrombie, Florida; sister-in-law; Betty Abercrombie, Clarksville, TN; grandchildren; Tara and Cary Lawler; Haley and Bryan Cagle; Jonathan and Keri Carpenter; Nathan White; Allison and Daniel Funk; Ashley and Greg Graham; great grandchildren; Brecken Lawler, Chase Lawler, Audrey Graham, Brody Graham and Addyson Cagle. a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Mrs. Carpenter is preceded in death by her father, Eddie Lee "Abbie" Abercrombie; son, Walter Carpenter and grandson, David Pethel.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday April 13, 2010 in the Little & Davenport Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Robert Kersh and Rev. Dean Bryant will officiate. Interment will follow in the Alta Vista Cemetery with Rev. Darryl Womack officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday April 12, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
