Hallie Bowen Holmes

Funeral services for Hallie Bowen Holmes, 83, of Flowery Branch, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the Memorial Park South Funeral Home chapel, 4121 Falcon Parkway, Flowery Branch, GA 30542 with interment to follow at 2:00 p.m. in Decatur City Cemetery, Decatur, GA. The Rev. Loren Hildebrant, Jr. will officiate. Visitation will be held 6:00 -8:00 p.m. Friday, April 9, at Memorial Park South.

Mrs. Holmes was born December 18, 1926, in Atlanta to the late John M. Bowen and Mary-Anna Cassels Bowen. She grew up in Kirkwood and attended Kirkwood grammar school. She also attended Druid Hills Elementary and High School. Hallie graduated with a B.S. degree in pre-med from the University of Georgia and a B.S. degree in building construction from Georgia Tech. She received some of the highest scholastic honors ever achieved by any of the women students.

Hallie was married to the late Thomas Carroll Holmes, Jr. She assisted her family with their real estate business, T.C. Holmes & Son.

She is survived by the following: sons, Thomas Carroll Holmes, III and Dale Bowen Holmes and his wife, Lynda Holmes, two grandchildren, Lucy Holmes Plovnick and Dale Bowen Holmes, Jr., one great-grandchild, Kevin Xavier Plovnick, and a grandson-in-law, Robert Matthew Plovnick.
