Michael A. (Mickey) Wilson

Michael A. (Mickey) Wilson, retired banker and commercial realtor, born June 14, 1936, in New Holland, GA passed away on February 26, 2010 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

He was a lifelong resident of Hall County. Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents, James E. and Ruth Stoyle Wilson. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janis Miller Wilson, son and daughter in law, Drew and Dana Rowe Wilson, son and daughter in law, Mitch and Anslee Dunckel Wilson, and grandchildren, Emmeline, Dickens, Rowe, Ella, and Miller Wilson, all of Gainesville, sisters and brothers in law Lynn and Bill Elliott, Jamie and Gene Quinn, and brother and sister in law John and Wendy Wilson, and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He graduated from Georgia Southern University, the University of Georgia School of Banking and LSU School of Banking, and was a respected community banker for many years. After retiring from banking, he was active in commercial real estate with Coldwell Banker Heritage Real Estate.

He loved his family and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed outdoor pursuits, was a member of the Traditional Bowhunters of Georgia, and a strong supporter of the Hall County 4-H Youth Archery Program. He is a life member of the Gainesville Elks Lodge, Chattahoochee Country Club, and a member of several civic organizations during his lifetime.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church B.A.S.I.C Sunday School Class Mission Fund, 800 South Enota Drive, Gainesville, Ga. 30501, the Hall County 4-H Youth Archery Program, 734 East Crescent Drive, Gainesville, Ga. 30501 or a charity of your choice.

A memorial service is planned for Sunday, February 28, 2010 at 3 pm at First Presbyterian Church, Gainesville, Georgia. The family will receive friends in Sweetenburg Hall following the service.
