Mabel Elrod Wallace, 93, of Dawsonville died Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a short illness.
Born September 26, 1916 in Ducktown, Tennessee to the late Marlin and Carrie Elrod, she moved to Dawson County in infancy and lived her entire life there. Mrs. Wallace was a homemaker and was the oldest member of Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Church; where she taught Sunday School for 30 years, was a soloist and sang in the choir. She was also preceded in death by her husband, General Wallace; son, Bobby Wallace; grandson, Nick Wallace; brother, Troy Elrod and sister, Madelene Beck.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Robert Rice, Dawsonville; daughter-in-law, Jo Wallace, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Kathy and David Gee, Pam and Johnny Young, Scott Wallace, Bobby Wallace; great-grandchildren, Cory and Harmony Gee, Dustin and Kristen Gee, Kayla Gee, Tara and Tim Hamby, Kristen Young, Lauren Wallace, Megan Wallace, Amy Wallace, Madison Wallace, Cameron Wallace; great-great-grandchildren, Karley Hamby, Karson Hamby, Amelia Gee; special niece, Carolyn Rice.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 28, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Church. Rev. J. W. Day, Rev. Leroy Blackwell, and Rev. Jimmy Payne will officiate. Interment will follow in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends after 5:30 p.m. Friday, February 26th, and all day Saturday at the funeral home.
