Bob L. Jones, 86, of Cumming died on February 25, 2010 at Embracing House Hospice. The son of the late Robert and Eather Jones, he was born in Ashville, AL and grew up in Steele, AL.
Bob served in the US Army during WWII and was in the 2nd wave of the Normandy Invasion. He was captured during the Battle of the Bulge and served the remainder of the war as a POW. For his bravery, Bob received the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster. He worked for Texaco for 25 years. Later he owned and operated an oil distributorship in Covington, GA. Bob was an avid golfer and loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Lou Jones of Cumming; daughters, Brenda (Tim) Harris of Alpharetta and Luann (Ralph) Mahan of Woodstock; sons, Scott (Alison) Jones of Atlanta and Brad (Cindy) Jones of Cumming; sister, Helen Swann of Montgomery, AL; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
