Dewey Floyd Baxter Sr. age 80, of Gainesville passed away Thursday, February 25, 2010 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Baxter was born April 28, 1929 in Farmington, GA to the late Delmus & Zonie Holden Baxter. Mr. Baxter served his country in the United States Army and received the Victory Metal. He was retired from Scientific Atlanta and was a member of Sardis Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Sue Baxter.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie S. Baxter of Gainesville; sons & daughters-in-law, Dewey Jr. & Lisa Baxter of Decatur, Dennis & Pam Baxter of Lawrenceville; step-grandson, Alden Eavenson of Savannah; sister, Sylvia Calloway of Greenwood, S.C. A number of nieces & nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Mason & Ward Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Culpepper, & Rev. Chris Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Gardens of Memory in Decatur at 3:00 p.m.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday, February 26, 2010 at the funeral home.
