Elizabeth Thompson Wierengo, age 96, went to be with the Lord on February 12, 2010.
Elizabeth was born in Ochlocknee, Georgia, July 24, 1913, to the late Lizzie and Herschel Thompson. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim Wierengo and her youngest daughter, Nancy.
Mrs. Wierengo graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She taught school in Palm Beach County, FL, for 28 years. Elizabeth and Jim resided in Belle Glade, FL until 1977. In 1978, they moved to Alpharetta to be near their children.
Elizabeth is survived by two daughters, Susanna Montgomery and husband, Gaines, Damascus, VA, and Jane Wierengo, Alpharetta; grandchildren, Liz Brown and husband, Byron, of Lacombe, LA, Jennie Harchfield and husband, Shane, of Memphis, TN, Sarah Gravitt and husband, Keith, of Cumming, Wesley Montgomery, Dawsonville, and Daniel Montgomery and wife, Rebecca, of Cumming; seven great-grandchildren, Carlie, Anna Grace, Clara Beth and Seth Harchfield and Caroline, Matthew and Benjamin Brown.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 19, at 11:00a.m. at the Ochlocknee Methodist Church, with Dr. Byron Brown officiating. Interment will be in the Ochlocknee Cemetery.
