Freddie Phillips

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Freddie Ralph Phillips, age 78, of Jefferson, who passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2010. Mr. Phillips, born in Jefferson, was a son of the late, Tommie Wilson Phillips and the late, Reba Stepp Phillips. He worked as a truck driver with Jones Auto Salvage for 43 years, and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Phillips was a member of White Plains Baptist Church, Jefferson; and was preceded in death by his first wife, Sara Helen Arnold Phillips and his brothers, Roscoe and Jesse Phillips.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Shumake Phillips of Jefferson. Daughter, Tammy Hayes of Jefferson. Step-daughter, Elaine Strickland of Danielsville; step-sons, Tony Nunn of Commerce, Terry Nunn of Jefferson, and Tim Nunn of Commerce. Brother and sister-in-law, Buddy and Lucille Phillips of Cumming. Sisters-in-law, Inez Phillips and Annie Phillips both of Jefferson; and a number of nieces and nephews. Thirteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 16, 2010 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Norris, Rev. Kevin Page, and Rev. Hillier Duke officiating. Interment will follow in Woodbine Cemetery, Jefferson. Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Phillips, Tracey Phillips, Caleb Phillips, Nick Potts, Anderson Walford, and Buddy Palmer. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Moon, George Pittman, and Junior Barrett.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the New Beginnings Pentecostal Church, C/O Wayne Norris 79 Dixon Drive Jefferson, Georgia 30549.
