Lester Randall Porter

Ivie Funeral Home announces services for Rev. Lester Randall Porter, 69 of Commerce who died Saturday at the Athens Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.

Born in Clarke County, he was the son of the late Lester and Mildred Porter and was also preceded in death by a son , Steven Randall Porter. Rev. Porter was a retired Minister with the Church of God, Cleveland, Tennessee and he also worked for several years with the Harmony Grove Mills prior to becoming a minister.

Survivors include his wife Mary Evelyn Porter of the home, a sister in law Kathleen Maddox of Hull, Children, Debra Porter and her husband William Martin of Commerce, Bobby Porter of Hull, Jean Wood of Gillsville, Rev. Lonnie and Betty Bennett of Hartwell, James Bennett of Commerce and his dear friend, Sara Beach of Winder, Pam and Charels Scarborough of Royston, Jon and Tracey Bennett of Commerce, 15 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren, and 5 Great Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 3 PM Monday (2/15/2010) from the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with Revs. Curtis Woods , Lonnie Bennett and Carlton Peters officiating with burial in the Grey Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6-9 PM
