Jerry Ray Cantrell, age 61 of Demorest, passed away Sunday, February 07, 2010, at New Horizons West.
Born in Habersham County, on February 13, 1938, he was the son of Gemilda Reynolds of Gainesville and the late Ray Knox Cantrell. Mr. Cantrell served proudly in the United States Army during Vietnam and was a member of Clarkesville Church of God. He enjoyed quality time with his grandchildren and various sports activities including softball. He also enjoyed fishing. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Jim McAllister.
Surviving in addition to his mother are wife, Vickie McAllister Cantrell of Demorest; son and daughter-in-law, Jason & Becky Cantrell of Clarkesville; sons, Jeremy Cantrell of Clarkesville and Blake Cantrell of Demorest; brother and sister-in-law, Tony & Elaine Cantrell of Clermont; sister, Debbie Hill of Gainesville; mother-in-law, Eula McAllister; grandchildren, Sidney Cantrell, Lindsey Cantrell, Tristan Cantrell and Paige Hogan; grandchildren and mother, Chloe Cantrell, Jiles Ward and Pepper Peeples of Clayton.
Funeral services are 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at Clarkesville Church of God with Rev. Ralph Smith and Rev. Tim Tanner officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the Georgia Army National Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 pm on Monday and 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Tuesday. The family is at the residence.
