Mr. Robert (Bob) Wesley Gann Sr., age 80 of Cleveland, passed away Friday, January 29, 2010 at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Gann was born June 20, 1929 in Athens, GA to the late Ruby Bridges and Arthur D. Gann Sr. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Gann, brother, A.D. Gann Jr. and sister, Dorothy Copeland. Mr. Gann was a veteran of United States Army where he served in the Korean War. He was a member of Cleveland First Baptist Church, a former Sunday school teacher, a former Gideon, and strong in the visitation program at First Baptist Church. Mr. Gann was the founder and President of Northeast Ga Claims Association and volunteer of the White County Food Pantry. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, and champion of the Georgia Bulldogs.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Joyce Gann, Sautee; sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Vickie Gann, Conyers; Wesley and Vivian Gann, Acworth; granddaughter, Traci Gann Wombough, Peachtree City; grandson, David Gann, Kennesaw; great-grandsons, Ben and Sam Wombough, both of Peachtree City.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 P.M. Monday, February 1, 2010 at Cleveland First Baptist Church. The Rev. Dennis Turner and Pastor Joe Hughes will officiate. Interment will follow in the New Liberty Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 3-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
