Henry Carl Stender

Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mr. Henry Carl Stender, age 84 of Cleveland. Mr. Stender passed away Friday, January 22, 2010 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 26, 2010 from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Myckal Ringstaff officiating, interment will follow in Gateway Memory Park.

Mr. Stender was born in Charleston, South Carolina to the late Henry Stender and Emma Colvin Stender. He served with honor in the United States navy during WWII aboard the USS Estes. He later retired from the Charleston Shipyard and moved to White County in 1989. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stender in preceded in death by his brothers,William and Fredrick Stender as well as sisters, Margie Simmons and Theodora Doar

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Stender, Cleveland and step son, Dr. Bill Saukle of Loma Linda, CA. daughter, Brenda Fieler, La Grande, Oregon as well as a number of nieces and nephews

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6 to 8 PM
