Deane Mathis Puckett

Mrs. Deane Mathis Puckett, 96, of Gainesville died January 16, 2010.

A lifetime resident of Hall County, Mrs. Puckett was a member of Gainesville First United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Womens Organization and was a member of the Open Door Sunday School Class.

She was past president and had been an active member of the Crabapple Garden Club until her declining health. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Anderson and Lera (Beard) Mathis; sister, Melrose Griggs and brother, W.A. Mathis, Jr. She was a graduate of Piedmont College where she received her AB Degree and she received her Master's Degree from the University of Georgia. She is survived by her niece Judy Griggs Slade of Jacksonville, Florida and several nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 19, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Little and Davenport Funeral Home.

Rev. Tom Jones will officiate. Interment will be in Level Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Cornelia.

Friends to assemble at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday for prayer and fellowship.
