Derris Ann (Derri) Lindsey Turner, 60, passed away Monday, December 28, 2009, in Dade City, FL with family at her side. Derri was born in Atlanta, GA but at an early age moved with her family to West Point, GA. A graduate of West Point High School, she attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Ben Turner, formerly of Gainesville. The couple had lived in Florida since 1984. She is preceded in death by her father, Hoyle Lindsey, and her mother Ruby Coleman Lindsey.
She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Wilma Turner of Gainesville; as well as sisters, Danna Alsabrook of Columbus, Pegge Phillips of LaGrange, and Mary Hoyle Rosson of Justin, TX; sister-in-law Judi Turner of Nashville, TN; brother-in-law, Johnny Turner of Gainesville, and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held in West Point on January 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at The First United Methodist Church of West Point, GA.
