Fred Parker

Funeral services for Fred Theron Parker, Jr., age 82, of the Macedonia Community, Clarkesville, will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2009, at 2:30 PM from the Macedonia Baptist Church. Rev. Leon Miller and Rev. Paris Whitworth will officiate with burial to follow the service in the church cemetery.

Mr. Parker passed away peacefully at his home on his beloved farm, on Thursday, December 24, 2009, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Fulton County on July 24th, 1927, Mr. Parker was the son of the late Fred Theron and Pauline Carnes Parker, Sr. Mr. Parker was employed with the Frigidaire division of General Motors since the age of 15. He had 35 years of service with GM in addition to being drafted for one year in the United States Army during World War II. He was active in the founding of the youth football program in Dekalb County and he was a Deacon at Indian Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Parker was a former county commissioner in Habersham County, he served on the Hospital Authority, and he was a member of the Rotary Club.
