Jerry Cecil Savage, age 68 of Mt. Airy, passed away Monday, December 21, 2009, at his residence following an extended illness.
Born in Banks County, GA on February 10, 1941, he was the son of Lulah Savage of Mt. Airy and the late Otis Savage. Jerry was a member of B. C. Grant Baptist Church and he enjoyed fishing, camping and art work.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are daughter and son-in-law, Vickie & Stanley Ansley of Mt. Airy; daughter, Cindy Sapp of Mt. Airy; son, John Savage and partner, Kenny Williams of Mt. Airy; brother and sister-in-law, J. B. & Sherry Savage of Maysville; sisters, Mary Jo Lalonde of Cornelia; sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer & Jackie Taylor of Baldwin; grandchildren, Christy Peck and her husband, Chris, Megan Ivester and her husband, Trent, Nicole Sapp and Noah Swain; great granddaughter, Fayeth Ivester; former wife, Bernice Savage Daily of Mt. Airy; also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 3:00 pm Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Doyal Conley and Rev. Billy Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 pm on Tuesday and also from noon until the service hour on Wednesday. Flowers are accepted or the family requests that those in attendance bring a toy for Toys for Kids in memory of Jerry.
