Harvey Sidney Gathright Jr.

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Harvey Sidney Gathright, Jr., age 70, of Jefferson, who passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2009. Mr. Gathright, born in Jefferson, was a son of the late, Harvey Sidney Gathright, Sr. and the late, Jessie Mae Barfield Gathright. Mr. Gathright worked with CSX Transportation Railroad Company. He was a member of Jones Chapel Baptist Church where he served as a deacon; and was a member of the Lincoln Masonic Lodge #62 of Athens.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Brown Gathright of Jefferson. Son, Douglas Gathright of Jefferson. Sisters: Mary Ann Jordan (Charlie) of Decatur, Betty Jean Jordan (Summie) of Smyrna, Linda Joyce Gathright of Jefferson, Judy Norwood (Doug) of Jefferson. Brothers: Billy Gathright (Ruby Nell) of Jefferson, William Monroe Gathright (Jean) of Jefferson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, December 19, 2009 from the Jones Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Pattman and Rev. R.E. Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Gathright will lie in state at the church from 1 until 2 PM Saturday.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Jones Chapel Baptist Church, 5114 Waterworks Road Jefferson, GA 30549.
