Leota Brookshire Mullinax

Leota Brookshire Mullinax, age 96 of Clarkesville, passed away Monday, December 14, 2009, at Habersham County Medical Center following an extended illness.

Born in Habersham County on October 10, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Kimsey and Della Anderson Brookshire. Mrs. Mullinax retired in the spinning department at Habersham Mills and Russell Corporation. She was the oldest living member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and in her spare time she enjoyed cooking, sewing and spending time with family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Mullinax; sisters, Geraldine Shirley, Rachel Loggin and Margaret Wilbanks; and brother, Frank Brookshire.

Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Guy & Emma Mullinax of Clarkesville; brother, Paul Brookshire of Scottsboro, Alabama; grandchildren and their spouses, Earnest & Jo Mullinax, J G & Bonnie Mullinax, Barry & Charlene Mullinax; grandchildren, Larry Mullinax and Teresa Mullinax; also surviving are 14 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 2:00 pm Thursday, December 17, 2009, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Burrell and Rev. Russ Barker officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-5 & 7-9 pm on Wednesday.
