Sandy Meredith

Sandy Meredith, age 71, of Clermont died Tuesday, December 8. Born in Tampa, FL, she lived for many years in Jacksonville, FL before moving to the Atlanta area in 1976. Sandy was a well-known real estate agent for 32 years, many of those years with RE/MAX, and retired in 2008. She was a member of Gainesville First United Methodist Church, the Friendship Sunday School class, Peach State Depression Glass Club, Gainesville Newcomers' Club, served on the Board of Directors of the Mountains at Clermont and a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Clermont and Friendship Builders Sunday School class, where she continued to have many friends.

She is survived by Ted Meredith, her loving and caring husband of 26 years, her son Kevin Lloyd and wife Kathleen of Cumming, son Keith Herpy and wife Molly of Pierce, Nebraska and daughter Kathy Kaye of Alpharetta. Her grandchildren are John Thompson of Alabama, Todd Herpy and Greg Rethwisch of Nebraska, Dalton Lloyd and Jillian Lloyd of Cumming, her sisters Judy Wagner of Union, WV and Sharon Grier of Ocala, FL, brother Stanley DeCastro and his wife Victoria of Winder, Ga and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sandy loved antiques and was known by many throughout the antique community in metro Atlanta. She enjoyed going to antique shows, auctions, estate sales, etc. She loved the dealers and conversing with them about antiques. She also loved CHRISTmas, decorating 18-20 CHRISTmas trees each year in their home, putting out numerous nativity scenes as well as doing holiday decor throughout the house. She enjoyed having family and friends over each year during the holidays and helping others with their decorating. She taught some to do unique trees, make bows, and numerous other things. Each year, while a real estate agent, she participated in the Hall County Board of Realtors' Deck the Halls, donating a tree to be auctioned as well as helping with the RE/MAX tree. She also enjoyed decorating for fall, Halloween, Valentine's Day and flying the American flag on holidays. she encouraged everyone to fly the flag on September 11 in honor of those who died on 9-11-01.

Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 10 at the funeral home. Visitation will also be from 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Friday, December 11 prior to the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service at Gainesville First United Church, 2780 Thompson Bridge Road, Gainesville, GA 30506. Rev. Terry Walton and Rev. Steve Winter officiating.
