Gertrude Schencks Carver

Mrs. Gertrude Schencks Carver, age 83, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, December 06, 2009 at Willow Wood Nursing Center following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The Reverend Hugh Hubbard will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Tuesday, December 08, 2009 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Carver was born in Columbia, Maine and was the daughter of the late William and Elsie Schencks. She loved flowers and gardening and especially loved her family and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Willis B. Carver; brothers, Frazier Schencks, William Schencks and sisters, Nora Schencks, Alberta Grant and Helen Jordan.

Mrs. Carver is survived by her sons, Rodney and Donna Carver of Arvilla, ND; Arthur and Vickie Carver, Donald and Vanissa Carver, Fletcher and Becky Carver, all of Gainesville; daughters, Sherry and Melvin Armstrong, Karen and Monty Redimarker, both of Dahlonega; Norma Carver of Anchorage, AK; 26 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren brothers, Edward and Mazie Schencks, Jimmy and Annie Schencks, Jonesboro, ME; sisters, Vertie and Robert Blackburn of Blue Ridge, GA; Betty Redimarker, Addison, ME; and a sister-in-law, Edna Simpson, Catula, GA.
