John Emory Griffin

Mr. John Emory Griffin, 89 of Gillsville died Saturday December 5, 2009 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

A lifetime resident of Hall County, Mr. Griffin was the son of the late Emory and Kate Griffin. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Lebanon United Methodist Church. Mr. Griffin is preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Maxine Griffin, son, Gary Griffin; sisters, Clara Belle Smallwood, Ara Gilmer, Anne Rylee, Susie Rylee, brothers, Buck Griffin and Charlie Griffin.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law; Diane and Coy Cape, Flowery Branch; daughter-in-law; Betty Griffin, Gainesville; grandsons; Kenneth Buffington, Royston; Kevin Buffington and Gregg Griffin, both of Gillsville; step grandchildren; Scott Burnett, Brian and Teresa Burnett and Emily and Royce Rundles, Lindsey and Kevin Brakhage; step great grandchildren; Ashley Burnett, Cailen Rundles, Cody & Cade Burnett; granddaughter and husband; June and Michael Bozeman, Gainesville; great grandchildren; M.J. Bozeman and Zoey Bozeman, sister, Mattie Jarrett, Gillsville; a number of neices and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday December 7, 2009 at the Lebanon United Methodist Church. The Rev. Marshall Dale will officiate. The body will lie in state at the church Monday from 3:00 until the funeral hour. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday December 6, 2009 at the Little & Davenport Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions to the Lebanon Perpetual Care Cemetery Fund or Lebanon United Methodist Church Building Fund.
