Mercer Harrison Johnson

Mr. Mercer Harris Johnson, 89 passed away on Wednesday December 2, 2009 following an extended illness at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.


A life long Georgia resident he was a graduate of Georgia Tech, and was retired from Lockheed Aircraft Corporation after 35 years as an engineer. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Philippines and New Guinea. Mercer was a member of the First Baptist Church of Atlanta for 71 years, where he served as a deacon.



Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Melba Hall Johnson, his daughter, Carol Johnson Price, his grandchildren, Spence and April Price and three great grandsons, Garrison, Griffin and Gavin Price.



Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday December 5, 2009 in chapel of Northside Chapel Funeral Directors.The Rev. Scott Downing will officiate. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Roswell.



In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Georgia Tech Alumni Association, 190 North Avenue, Atlanta, Georgia 30313.
